How Our Book Helps

Our book and this organization were created as a tool to help children, parents and family members understand the effects of diabetes and to let them know they are not alone. We feel every child with diabetes should be able to have a book they can relate to, regardless of price. That is why all book orders are by donations only! 100% of the donations received by this website for book sales are put back into the organization for books, gifts, and activities for diabetic children and their families. Having diabetes, getting numerous shots and multiple finger pokes a day, is not fun! Our goal is to bring a little something positive to their situation and a smile to their face and to give helpful information to caregivers with support and understanding. If you or someone you know could use our help please contact us. We love to help!

I Have Diabetes - Kindra

Kindra was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at the age of 4. It was the toughest time in her life — as it is for all children and the people who love them. One of her hardest times was in the hospital for the first time. It was difficult for her to understand that every shot and finger poke was not the last one and that this was now a part of her new life. She looked at her mom with big tears in her eyes and said “Mom, I can’t do this,” and her Mom replied with bigger tears in her eyes and said “Yes, you can!”

And she has!

That was 8 years (and over 14,000 blood checks) ago and is a healthy and happy 12 year old girl. She is a great student with good grades, dances in competitions and has won numerous awards. She loves to be involved in her diabetic community doing the JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Fund) walks and attending the FCYD (Foundation Camps for Youth with Diabetes). If you ask her today if she minds having diabetes, she will say, "not really."

We need sponsors and in exchange we can advertise for them. We may also need volunteers at times. If you are interested please contact us.
